Daniel Martirossian is a portrait artist living and working in Sussex, England. He studied Fine Art, Painting and Drawing at the University of Chichester graduating with 1st Class Honours. His work has been exhibited in Chichester, Portsmouth, the Lake District and London. Experimenting with a range of drawing mediums such as pencil and charcoal, his photo-realistic style is concerned with capturing the subject at the point at which a photograph is taken.
Although Daniel’s portraits are hand-drawn, they are equally about the nature of photography. The artist’s intention is that the viewer recognises the person depicted by creating a likeness that is captured through the lens but enlivened by the use of various pencil-based media both black and white and colour, demonstrating a sense of truth.
